Are you a photographer looking to create a subtle yet sophisticated cinematic look for all your pictures? Do you want to speed up your editing / color grading process without sacrificing character? The Poetry photography Presets for Adobe Lightroom, have been designed specifically with wedding photographers in mind. Inspired by the Poetry LUTs for wedding films, they are probably some of the best cinematic lightroom presets for wedding photographers. It is a collection of five (5) color and two (2) black and white lightroom presets. These photography presets have been crafted to recreate the color signature of my films, in a variety of lighting situations and in different countries around the world. They are intended for raw files, and have been tested on a lot of different cameras.

Color Palette of the lightroom presets
The color palettes of the Poetry Presets are variations on a theme. They are mainly characterized by pastel tones and earth moody colors. The skin tones and shadows are warm, while boosting some cooler tones of acqua and greens in the highlights. Although the term can be a bit subjective, I believe that these are some of the most cinematic presets to create a moody, filmic, ambience for your images. You can find representation of some indicative color combinations in the pictures below.
Notwithstanding similarities, most of these lightroom presets exhibit significant differences out of the box. Hence, offering a great flexibility to create your own signature style, depending on each situation. The final result will strongly depend on the Preset that you use and on the primary color corrections that you will apply to your raw file. There is much latitude to create the mood that you want to convey to each collection of your pictures and to benefit from the cinematic character of the presets.
How to apply the Poetry Presets
This collection includes two zip folders. For the latest versions of Adobe Lightroom Classic CC you should use the .xmp folder. There is also a .lrtemplate folder intended for people working with a legacy version of Adobe Lightroom 6 (CC), 5 & 4. Installing the presets is an easy process, but you can check the installation guide included in the package.
A photography lightroom preset provides a good starting point to color grade your pictures. However, you should definitely spend some time applying few primary corrections on each individual picture of your collection. Having a good starting point is not a one-size-fit-all solution, but it can definitely save you a lot of time in the color grading process. Most of the time, you would have to apply only “minor” corrections to your footage, such as modifying the color temperature and correcting exposure, contrast, white balance and saturation on your pictures. I suggest that you experiment with such primary color corrections to your pictures both before and after applying the preset. This is how you can control better the effect and achieve the intended look on your pictures.
Are you struggling to provide a consistent look and a cinematic character to your wedding photography? The Poetry Presets might be the solution you were looking for! Check out a few before and afters below to see how these adobe Lightroom Presets behave in different situations and decide for yourself.
Before and After applying the cinematic lightroom presets
Some examples of before and after applying the Poetry Presets. The pictures below are jpeg representations of raw files before and after applying the preset. I have also applied some primary color corrections in Adobe Lightroom (indicatively Color temperature, Exposure, contrast, Shadows, Highlights, Saturation, radial filter) to account for each particular situation and to achieve the desired look every time. Different primary corrections lead to different results.
