The best wedding venues in Tuscany depend on the celebration you are planning. Villa Grabau works particularly well for flexible wedding-day hire near Lucca. Castello di Gargonza and Castello di Ristonchi allow most or all guests to stay together. Lupaia and Villa Catureglio suit intimate destination weddings, while La Foce, Villa Cetinale and Villa Gamberaia place historic architecture and gardens at the center of the experience.

For international couples travelling from abroad to Italy, the practical differences are substantial. Some venues can host the whole guest list for several nights. Others allow only immediate family to stay, require a separate wedding fee, or provide the estate without catering, furniture, or production.

Best Wedding Venues in Tuscany at a glance

These figures are not directly comparable. Villa Grabau’s €7,000 is an event-space rental without accommodation, furniture, or catering. Ristonchi’s starting package includes accommodation and many parts of the wedding weekend. Each venue section explains what the amount covers.

Villa Grabau: best for flexible wedding-day hire near Lucca

The main villa has imposing rooms filled with historic paintings, sculpture and furniture. The interiors feel closer to a private Tuscan museum than a modern hotel. They are relatively dark, but windows and doors on different sides create beautiful directional light for portraits. Access and production need to respect the age and condition of the interiors.

The estate has enough variety to move through the wedding without repeating the same setting. The Box-Hedge Theatre can hold the ceremony, the gardens can be used for aperitivo and dinner, and the Limonaia provides an indoor reception or party space. Villa Arancera, with its garden and pool, can be used for accommodation and may also work for a barbecue or pool gathering.

The 2026 quotation priced the Limonaia and its two connected gardens at €7,000 for up to 100 guests, with €11 for every additional guest.

Optional spaces were quoted separately:

• Box-Hedge Theatre: €1,500
• English Garden: €1,500
• Ground floor of the historic villa: €3,000

Tables, chairs, decoration, catering and wedding production are not included.

The accommodation quotation covered three cottages for 22 people:

• Four October nights: approximately €5,400
• Four nights in May, June or September: approximately €6,700
• Seven nights in July or August: approximately €8,100

A wedding using the principal €7,000 event spaces and the four-night October accommodation would therefore begin at approximately €12,400 before catering, rentals and optional areas.

Larger accommodation configurations can bring the onsite total to around 55. The exact houses and minimum stays depend on the season.

Villa Grabau is eight kilometers from Lucca and relatively easy to reach from Pisa Airport. It works well for couples who want guests to stay in Lucca, travel to the venue together and perhaps turn the wedding into a longer Tuscan stay.

Villa Gamberaia: best for formal gardens near Florence

Villa Gamberaia sits above Florence in Settignano. Its water gardens, terraces, clipped hedges and views across the Arno valley create a formal setting that needs relatively little decoration to feel complete.

A recent couple planning a June wedding received a quotation of €49,800 for two nights, with a further €3,000 for a welcome-dinner space. This gives an initial two-night venue commitment of approximately €52,800 before catering, rentals, planning and production.

The estate currently accommodates up to 40 people across the main villa and three additional residences. The main villa itself sleeps 18. For a wedding of 60 to 100 guests, the remaining guests can stay in Florence or the surrounding area.

Gamberaia works well for couples who want a private villa atmosphere without taking guests too far from Florence. The relatively short transfer also allows guests to combine the wedding with time in the city.

Ask for the seated capacity of the proposed dinner space and a complete indoor weather plan. The number that can attend an outdoor reception may be higher than the number that can dine or party comfortably inside.

Villa Medicea di Lilliano: best for a large wedding close to Florence

Villa Medicea di Lilliano lies approximately 11 kilometers south of Florence. It combines the convenience of the city with the gardens, vineyards and space of a private Tuscan estate.

I have filmed a welcome aperitivo in the shaded courtyard, a ceremony on the terrace, dinner in the gardens, fireworks and a late party inside the Limonaia. The rooftop can also host a long-table dinner before or after the wedding. At one celebration, a full moon rose behind the guests during dinner.

Summer afternoon light can be strong, particularly on the terrace. Ceremony orientation, timing and shade need to be planned carefully. The property also extends across several buildings, so a car or golf cart can be useful when the couple is preparing in different parts of the estate.

Current high-season package figures are:

These prices include VAT, accommodation in 16 suites for 32 guests and one wedding event day.

The estate can accommodate 32 guests in standard beds or up to 44 using sofa beds. Further accommodation is available nearby. The Limonaia provides an indoor alternative for up to 150 people, while the gardens can host larger celebrations.

For a three-night weekend, the venue commitment begins around €37,752 before food, drinks, flowers, entertainment and production.
