The Amalfi Coast is one of Italy’s most distinctive destination wedding regions, shaped by the meeting of mountains and sea, historic towns, Mediterranean gardens and an extraordinary variety of landscapes within a relatively small area. Yet an Amalfi Coast wedding does not have one single character. The experience changes considerably depending on where along the region a celebration takes place.
Ravello sits high above the sea, quieter and more contained, with historic villas, gardens and terraces built into the mountainside. Amalfi and Positano are more directly connected to the coastline, where movement, sea views and the vertical geography become part of the experience. Sorrento, meanwhile, often works as a larger and more accessible base for destination weddings, with elegant venues of its own and convenient connections to nearby coastal locations.
This is why I approach the Amalfi Coast as a wider destination while also exploring places such as Ravello and Sorrento individually. They belong to the same broader wedding region, but the architecture, movement, light, logistics, and atmosphere of each location influence how a celebration unfolds and how I film it.

Filming across the Amalfi Coast requires more than familiarity with a single venue or town. A wedding can move between very different environments within the same region, and each one brings its own practical and creative considerations. Understanding those differences allows me to plan coverage around the actual geography of the celebration rather than approaching the coast as one interchangeable backdrop.
A Region Shaped by Movement
Weddings here often involve movement between hotels, villas, churches, gardens, harbours and reception venues. Narrow roads, steep terrain, boat transfers and limited access can influence the timeline just as much as the ceremony itself. When several locations are involved, I plan the filming around those transitions so that logistics do not interrupt the emotional continuity of the day.
Different Locations Require Different Ways of Working
Ravello invites a quieter, more contained way of filming, shaped by historic interiors, gardens and elevated terraces. Coastal towns introduce more movement, public space and changing light, while Sorrento often allows the celebration to expand more easily into welcome events, boat trips and neighbouring locations. My approach adapts to these differences rather than imposing the same visual formula everywhere.

The variety of the Amalfi Coast is visually extraordinary, but the destination should never become more important than the people who chose it. The landscape, architecture and movement through the region give the film context; the relationships, voices and emotional progression of the celebration give it meaning.
That distinction is central to my work. The purpose is not to create a travel film with a wedding inside it, but to allow the character of each place to become part of a story that remains fundamentally about the couple and the people around them.

Weddings can move between historic villas, gardens, the town itself, boat excursions, and nearby locations, giving Sorrento a flexibility that distinguishes it from the smaller towns along the coast.

Positano
Positano is defined by its vertical relationship with the sea. Hotels, terraces, streets and venues are distributed across a steep hillside, creating spectacular views but also a very particular rhythm of movement. Weddings here tend to feel more immersed in the energy of the town and coastline than the quieter celebrations found higher in Ravello.
Capri
Capri sits apart geographically from the coast but is closely connected to the same destination-wedding circuit. Reached by sea, it introduces a different kind of celebration again, shaped by island logistics, privacy, and the possibility of incorporating boat travel into the wedding experience.
Together, these locations form part of the wider experience couples often describe as an Amalfi Coast destination wedding, but they are not interchangeable. Where the celebration is based affects the venues, logistics, guest experience, and visual character of the wedding, which is why I treat each location individually within the broader region.
